Houston Facility
Universal Steel has 140,000 ft2 under roof in Houston, TX, with additional acreage for outside plate storage. The main 90,000 ft2 facility was built in 2007, and we added another 50,000 ft2 facility in the fall of 2012. We continue to upgrade machinery to keep up our state-of-the-art processing operations and facilitate the needs of our customers.
Our 90,000 ft2 facility houses our main plate stock and burning & plate processing operations. With direct rail service into the facility, we receive direct shipments from mills, eliminating additional freight charges and reducing cost, in-turn reducing charges to you. The plate processing facility’s operations include plasma and oxy-fuel burning, beveling, drilling, tapping, counterboring, countersinking, and blanchard grinding.
Our newest 50,000 ft2 facility houses our ASME Code shop, for all rolling and welding operations. Universal Steel is an ASME Code stamp-holder, certified per ASME Section VIII Division 1, Section VIII Division 2, and Section I (U, U2, & S stamps). Our ASME Code shop has rolling & welding capabilities from ¼” up to 4” thick, with diameters ranging from 19” up to 14’, a max single roll width of 10’, and girth seam assemblies up to 60’ long.
