New Houston Roll and Weld Shop Completed

 

 

10/2012 Universal Steel America Division completed its 50,000 sq. ft. addition, specifically to house the steel plate rolling and ASME welding equipment. Three ten foot wide sets of rolls with capacity up to 4" thick plate steel have been installed. Receipt of certification ot ASME section VIII Div 1 (U Stamp) and ASME Section 1 (S Stamp) enables USAI to offer customers an extension of their facilities by providing beveling, rolling, welding and ultrasonic testing cylinders per SA578 level C 100% scan.

Combined with the original processing and steel facility, the total plant now contains 140,000 sq. ft. utilizing 10 overhead cranes, rail served. 

5/2013 Universal Steel America Houston Division completed the installation of a Kinetic processing facility providing cutting, contour bevel capacity, drilling, tapping and counter boring thru 4" diameter to very tight tolerances. In addition, two new CNC 6 torch oxy-fuel machines were installed, bring the total burning capacity to 5 machines.

New Chicago (Crete, Ill) Greenfield Site adds Press Brake and Surface Conditioning Capacity

10/2012 Universal Steel America Chicago, Division added a new CNC 750 ton Cincinnati Hydraulic press brake along with an ERNST 48" deburring machine and a 60" wide Viking shot blast cabinet to facilitate steel plate surface conditioning. The facility also contains four multi-torch burning machines, Blanchard grinding and a Kinetic processing facility providing cutting, contour bevel capacity, drilling, tapping and counter boring thru 4" diameter holding tight tolerances. This 85,000 sq. ft. facility, completed in 2011 has lifting capacity to 25 ton and is located on 15 acres in Crete, Ill.
