3/28 New 'Green' Facility in Chicago Nears Completion

Universal Steel America Chicago, Inc. is scheduled to move into their brand new facility at 225 Burville Road in Crete Illinois on April 8th. The long awaited 85,000 square foot crane served steel plate processing facility includes the latest technology processing machinery for supplying high definition steel plate parts to the Midwestern industrial base.

3/11 Universal Steel America Houston Receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Universal Steel America, Inc. is proud to announce that their Houston location is one of a select number of companies to meet the stringent ISO 9001:2008 certification requirements as issued by SRI Quality System Registrar, an ISO 9001 qualified registrar.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification demonstrates Universal Steel America's continual commitment to providing customers with a product and service of the highest possible standard, and is designated for the company as specialty steel plate service center providing plate, fabrications and component parts to power generation, wind, heavy construction, off shore oil and gas, pressure vessel, mining and heat transfer industries.

"Today's manufacturing environment is increasingly competitive and we need to stay focused on finding new ways to produce, sell and deliver products," noted Randy Butler, president Houston. "Our ISO 9001:2008 registration signifies that we are committed not only to upholding a strict, documented quality system, but to continually improve on that system by providing quality products, enhancing customer satisfaction, reducing costs and optimizing our operations."

The registration is for the management system at its 1230 E. Richey Road, Houston, TX, USA location.

About the ISO 9001 standard
The ISO 9001 standard was developed by the International Organization for Standardization, an impartial, non-governmental agency based in Geneva, Switzerland that develops and publishes industrial and commercial standards in more than 160 countries. ISO 9001:2008 is the latest version of the worlds most widely used standard for quality management.

It defines a number of requirements an organization must fulfill in order to achieve customer satisfaction through consistent products and services and requires that a company maintains a strategy for continual improvement. 6/10 New 'Green' Facility Under Construction in Chicago

Universal Steel America Chicago, Inc. is developing a Greenfield project in Crete, Illinois with the construction of an 85,000 square foot crane served steel plate processing facility. With easy access to major interstate highways, eventually a total of almost 300,000 square feet of plant can be accommodated on the 15 acre site. The green facility will include the addition of the latest technology processing machinery to supply high definition steel plate parts to the Midwestern industrial base. Expected completion is Q1 2011.

6/10 Houston Facility Adds New 10 ft by 1" Plate Roll & Blanchard Grinding Services

To better serve the gulf coast steel market, a new 10 foot by 1 plate roll has been recently added to the facility capable of cold forming cylinders as tight as 18 in diameter. This equipment complements the existing heavy 2.5 heavy plate roll. In the quest to continually provide value-added services, a 60 Blanchard grinder has also been installed. Recently Universal Steel America Houston, Inc. created and staffed an International Marketing Group to better service the Central and South American markets.
