A588 Plate
Universal Steel stocks A588 Gr. B from ¼” to 1” thick, with heavier thicknesses available upon request. A588 is a high strength structural steel, with additional weathering characteristics to protect the steel from corrosion. This grade is used in bridge building and other structural applications where strength, durability, and term of life are critical.

ASTM A588 - Weathering Steel
High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Steel with 50 KSI Min Yield point to 4” thick. Developed to eliminate the need for painting and form a rust-like appearance after years exposure to weather. Primarily for use in welded bridges and buildings where savings in weight or added durability are important.
