1045 Plate
Universal Steel stocks 1045 plate from 3/16” thick up to 1-1/2” thick, in the as-rolled condition. 1045 has fair machineability and weldability, and this material responds well to additional heat treatment. 1045 is the most commonly used grade in tool steels. This is a ‘chemistry only’ grade, with additional testing required for strength and physical characteristics, and third-party heat-treating available to meet the exact specifications of any job.
